Ann Michalsen is Of Counsel with Nazzaro.  Ann’s practice focuses on advising clients on risk management and compliance issues related to government regulations. She helps her clients anticipate obstacles and provides solutions for managing or eliminating those obstacles. Her ability to quickly understand the complexities of federal, state, and local regulations and how to operationalize those often competing compliance requirements is often crucial for a growing client. Ann also represents her clients on transactional matters and has a gift for helping her clients weave a compelling narrative story into their pitch.

Ann has the unique skill of seeing the big picture that a client is trying to solve and tracking the small details to advise clients on how best to reach their goals because she understands how bureaucracies work. Prior to her position at Nazzaro, Ann held a management position with the City of Naperville, the third largest city in Illinois, where she managed the team responsible for interpreting and enforcing the entire municipal code. She moved to Naperville from the City of Chicago law Department where she regularly represented the city in civil litigation code violation cases. Ann managed a large volume practice and was directed to handle the most complicated cases.

Ann has also owned her own small business and worked with several non-profit organizations.  She is especially proud of her work as a CASA volunteer, a CASA board member, and a foster parent.  Whether it is state statutes, local ordinances, or the foster care system, Ann excels at deftly navigating large bureaucracies to accomplish her goals – and she loves doing that for her clients as well.
